Turkish distributor Hamamcioglu have been having great success with the Maeda cranes. This month they were put to work at a historical Turkish site called Afrodisissas.
The Mini Cranes helped to build the museum at the site by lifting marble statues and tombs into place. The machines were perfect for this delicate job as they are very controllable and easy to use.
Burcin Arbay of Hamamcioglu comments: "We found great results using the Maeda's at this site. The site was very difficult to access because of the small doorways and hallways we had to navigate, but the maeda was really easy to transport to the lift site. We had to use the MC285's electric function inside the museum so as to not create pollution inside the building. The customers were very happy with the machines and will definately use them and us again".

Maeda USA dealer Entec Longhi & CIA of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil has purchased 7 units of the Maeda cranes, including the MC104CR, MC285CRME, and MC305CRME-2. They have placed two units of the MC285CRME inside manufacturing plants for Yamaha Motors and Honda Motors in Manaus for general maintenance services inside these plants. They use all the units as part of their general rental fleet as well. Manaus is in the Amazon region of Brazil, physically located where the Amazon and Rio Negro rivers converge. It is a large manufacturing base in Brazil.
New Maeda USA dealer for Georgia and Florida, Cherokee Erecting Company of Atlanta, Georgia, have an MC305CRME-2 on a year long job constructing an underground nuclear waste disposal facility. Hopefully we will have some photos of the machine on the job next month.
Customer Dave's Truck and Crane Service of Calgary, Alberta, Canada has bought its first MC305CRME-2. Their first job with the machine was to lift and install a 8 meter by 1 meter conveyor belt system weighing 1360 kilograms inside a plant by lifting it over a boiler room in an extremely tight space.
Dave's has also had the 305 inside a hospital working on an expansion to the hospital by handling lifting of slab and wall sections being removed, as well as mechanical systems such as HVAC units (heating and air-conditioning systems) and other equipment. Photos to come on both these jobs as well.

The Institute of Marine Research in Austervoll, Norway has taken delivery of a Maeda MC-285 CRM-E and has now had it for use in 6 months and it has solved the problems of heavy lifting in constrained areas as well as in extreme weather conditions (salt water, wind, freeze).
Sjur ge Skaar who is depot manager in Austervoll claims that the Maeda minicrane due to its lifting capacity and relatively low weight makes it possible to lift up the fish in water containers instead of bring it up with net meaning that there is much less damage to the caught fish and therefore also much more economical than old methods. The alternative to the Maeda Minicrane was a crane mounted on a Boat which would have costed 5 times more and not solved the lifting operations on land where they handle a lot of bulk material.
He also points out that they now avoid a lot of heavy manual lifting which before has led to problems with injured backs amongst the employees.
Sjur ge says that the Maeda Minicrane has a great potential within the fish growing industry and closely related areas. |

The Havator Group has just taken delivery of their new Maeda LC785 which brings their total Maeda fleet to 4 machines. The new machine will run alongside their existing Maeda MC285, MC305 and LC755 machines which have already proven to be highly effective for the company.
Havator are the leading lifting services company in the Nordic region and employ over 550 staff with have an estimated turnover of over 100 million Euros. The company currently operates within Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia, and the Baltic countries.
Lars Hagstrand from Havator says; "We strongly believe in these small Maeda cranes and feel that they complement well the larger cranes that our business is generally built on."
The new LC785 is initially being used on the building of the new courthouse for the town of Gothenburg in Sweden as can be seen in the image.
They have lowered the LC785 down into the foundations using a standard mobile crane and from there the Maeda will be carrying the forms and armour irons for the concrete work to the correct location and lifting into place. The LC785 has a pick and carry duty of up to 2000kg so makes it perfect for this application. |

Maeda Mini Cranes are left to pick up the pieces
after the dreadful fire that engulfed and destroyed the newly refurbished Pier at Weston-Super-Mare.
Kranlyfts hire division Hire Maeda are supplying Maeda cranes to aid in the clearance of the destroyed ironwork and rubble for this challenging 8-10 week project.
TR Demolition of Bristol are the company tasked with managing the clearing of the site and have chosen the Maeda brand as the fastest and safest
way of removing the waste from the site to allow the next stages of development to be undertaken.
2x MC285 Mini cranes will be in action at the site for the duration of the contract but also an MC305 and possibly bigger Maedas may be brought in at a later stage to tackle some of the heavier clumps of ruined steel and ironwork. The Mini cranes are perfect for this type of work due to their small track width and high maneuverability allowing them to reach some highly inaccessible areas.Once the cranes are in place, the outriggers can be set at various lengths which allow powerful lifting capabilities under very restricted circumstances.
Terry Marnock, MD of Kranlyft UK comments: "The fire at the Pier was a devastating incident
and has affected the surrounding community hugely. As a very local attraction to ourselves, we were saddened to hear of the loss and are now very proud to be involved with the subsequent
renovation. TR Demolition have reported to be very happy with the performance of our Maedas and we have stepped up our operations to enable us to support them in whichever way we can." |

Network Rails Distribution and Plant division along with IMS South Yorkshire selected the Maeda brand to help carry out their ongoing maintenance project at power substations on the East Coast Main Line. The 150kg ceramic insulated roof bushings at the many substations throughout the UK have a limited lifespan and as such need changing after a certain time period. This is a complex job which requires the entire substation to be isolated electrically. The sites are also notoriously difficult to access and safety is a major issue as the sites are dangerous due to the many live overhead cables.
Through Hire Maeda, Kranlyfts rental division, the MC285 machine was selected as the perfect tool for this project as it is very small when stowed (only 750mm wide), has powerful 2.8 ton lifting capacity and is also highly maneuverable which would be a real benefit over the rough terrain that it would encounter. Also, the maeda range have a boom lock which can be set ensuring that it was physically impossibly for any operator to accidentally extend the boom high enough to touch any of the overhead cables. On all sites bar one, the MC285 was able to reach its destination over rough terrain and through some very restricted access points. On the occasion that the MC285 was unable to reach, an MC305 was used from outside the perimeter fence. The machines were used to remove the old bushings and also to hoist the new bushings into place prior to the engineers manually fixing them into place.
This is an ongoing project with Network Rail, IMS and Hire Maeda and is expected to last anywhere between 18 months and 2 years. The site pictured here is of Hambleton Junction, Selby.
Managing Director of IMS Ltd Gary Wainwright comments: "From the outset Kranlyft have been incredibly flexible and helpful fulfilling the specific demands of my clients within the rail industry. The training was conducted efficiently at very short notice onsite and in-situ which suited my clients very well. The backup support, in terms of logistics, has also been second to none. Due to the nature of this ongoing project, we have encountered last minute changes of plan and short notice cancellations at which times Kranlyft have been with us every step of the way. The Maeda products are incredibly intuitive to operate, very versatile and also conform to stringent site safety standards as per the standards set by the rail industry." |

Hampshire, UK based cranes2u.com has added a 2.82 tonne Maeda MC285 to its new fleet of spider cranes. One of the first jobs for the 750mm wide crane made maximum use of its slender dimensions.
The job was to lift a large glass panel into the skylight of a single storey extension at the rear of a house in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The only way in was through the house itself.
The MC285 was specifically chosen for its ability to squeak through the narrow, 765 mm wide, single door at the rear of the Victorian terraced house.
A set of glazier suction pads were added to the crane allowing it to place the glass panel precisely into place.
Charlie Preston, technical sales engineer for cranes2u.com said:
"It was snug, to say the least, but the adaptability of the MC285 meant that we were able to offer a cost-effective solution. We were in and out within the day and there was no need for the client to hire a more expensive larger crane or for road closures to be instigated." |

the Maeda Mini Crane range with a total lift capacity of
just below 5 tons, although later on in the year Kranlyft
will be adding the new LC1385 to the Maeda range which will
replace the LC785s position at the top.
Mr King tells us " .. after evaluating all of the competition

Austrian
Civil Engineering and Lifting services conglomerate Felbermayr
have invested heavily in the expanding Mini Crane rental
market by purchasing no less than 8 Maeda Mini Cranes to
kick start their newest venture. The company have opted for
half MC series and half LC series cranes including two of
the brand new Maeda LC1385 that will be available in Europe

with blade specification. Such a large investment clearly
demonstrates the companies conviction in the possibilities
of both the product and also the burgeoning marketplace as
a whole.
Managing
director Horst Felbermayr is excited to be entering this
new marketplace and concludes to us that "the main reason
for choosing Maeda as an alternative to the competition
was because of the greater quality of the product and also
the wide range of cranes available."

positioned in the market as a complete for both Civil Engineering
and Lifting Services. In the field of transport, rail, road

FOR HIRE TAKE 10 NEW MAEDAS FROM KRANLYFT - 28/01/07 |
Top |
 |
|
|
Height for Hire, Irelands largest supplier
of mobile elevating platforms (MEWPs), are introducing 11 new
Maeda mini crawler cranes to their rental fleet across all
their depots in Ireland and the UK.
The commitment to the 11 new Maeda mini crawlers follows the
positive response received to the initial product testing of
6 new units in 2006. Height for Hire Director Fergus McArdle
said, "We feel that the mini crane concept provides a safer
and quicker approach to lifting on the modern building site."
Once people become familiar with the smaller units, they will
want to lift heavier and bulkier items with the same type of
machine. We already see this happening in the 1 to 3 tonne
categories and we are confident this will continue"."The Maeda
range dove-tails nicely with Height for Hires specialised
access and telescopic forklifts ranges. We both see the Maedas
as the answer to difficult lifting jobs in tight spaces for
customers across a wide range of industries", said Kranlyft
Director Terry Marnock.
The development of the UK lifting market is now firmly on the
agenda for leading access companies like Height for Hire & its
sister company Easi UpLifts, hence their significant investment
in Maeda mini crawlers. According to Fergus McArdle, huge increases
in the price of development land throughout the UK and Ireland
means that construction sites are becoming smaller and denser.
This, combined with increased safety consciousness in both
on site and off-site construction techniques, has led the demand
for more imaginative lifting solutions, for which Maedas mini
crawlers are ideal.
"The
mini crawler compliments our existing range well. Our current
customers are proving to be very positive about Maedas product
line" said
Fergus McArdle. "Terry and his team are totally committed to
providing a comprehensive back-up service to an excellent product.
They are committed to the product, and so are we at Height
for Hire and Easi UpLifts.Kranlyft is also delivering an open
training policy to all staff in all Height for Hires UK and
Irish depots." |

THE WORLDS LARGEST PLASMA SCREEN |

The worlds largest plasma screen has just
been installed in the 60million Wigan Grand Arcade, courtesy
of Hi Reach and Kranlyft.
When Andrew Sanham projects manager for plasma screen specialists
PSCO won the order for the 103" Panasonic plasma screen, he
naturally needed a little help lifting the 220 kilos screen.
The 50,000, the plasma screen was to be mounted 13m above
ground level. "This was the highest installation position we
have ever had to undertake and space was extremely tight. We
knew we needed specialist help to get this right" said Andrew
Sanham.
Kranlyft UK was able to provide a solution using a Maeda mini
crawler crane. The space and access issue was solved by tracking
the mini crawler crane to its lifting location via the wheelchair
access ramp, with literally 50mm to spare each side. The MC285
was fitted with a 2 fall hook block to enable it to lift below
ground level to approximately 21 metres.
"The lift plan was devised with Ecolifts depot manager
Suzanne Whittaker. Ecolift recently bought 11 Maeda machines
from Kranlyft and their local Wigan depot was able to provide
the right model to successfully complete the job" said Kranlyfts
Alan Peck. |

Kranlyft has sealed a deal for ten Maeda
mini crawler cranes with Eco Lift, the new division of Hi-Lift
Equipment Ltd.
Eco Lift will be a sister company to Hi-Lifts power access
division, Hi-Reach. MD Paul Richards said, "The Maeda mini
crawler crane is a first class product. We liked its record
of reliability and Kranlyft has clearly demonstrated their
ability to deliver an excellent service and support package,
which was a very important factor for us."
The move into the mini crawler market is a new venture for
Hi-Lift. With seven Hi-Reach depots across the UK and a significant
customer base through the power access division, Eco Lift is
clearly a good fit with the existing company.
"We
dont do things by halves" said
Paul Richards, "we
hit the ground running on March 1st with ten fully operational
Maedas and a team of fully trained staff, who will be capable
of providing effective technical advice for our customers and
pass on their operational expertise." Training
for the EcoLift team has already started at Kranlyfts purpose
designed Avonmouth training centre.
John Hornby of Kranlyft said, "We see this as a significant
order for us. It feels as if the mini crawler crane is finally
